Internet speeds crowns Mukesh Ambani’s Jio GigaFiber as winner
Jio GigaFiber has not been commercially rolled out in India, but it has most definitely got a feather inside the cap again. Netflix’s state-of-the-art Internet document suggests that Jio GigaFiber topped the broadband speeds chart in February. Airtel, Vodafone’s You Broadband, and other essential Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are trailing behind the Netflix ISP Speed Index.
According to the index, Jio GigaFiber reached a median velocity of 3.61Mbps in February, closely observed through 7 Star Digital, returning a median broadband pace of three.43Mbps. Jio GigaFiber previously recorded an average speed of 3.58Mbps. The Gurugram-based Spectranet came out at the third position within the index with a median rate of three.34Mbps.
Airtel, one of the leading ISPs in India, was given the fourth area in the chart because it attained the average velocity of three.29Mbps in February, as adversarial to 3.18Mbps in January. The fifth role became occupied with the aid of ATRIA Convergence Technologies, which gives its broadband offerings below the ACT Fibernet branding. According to the index, ACT Fibernet went up to supply a median speed of three.03Mbps.
Tata Communications, which still offers broadband offerings in chosen regions in India, secured the last position on the chart with a median velocity of one.77Mbps. Other ISPs within the map are You Broadband (2.96Mbps), Hathway (2.95Mbps), Syscon Infoway (2.83Mbps), D-VoiS (2.76Mbps), Excited Broadband (2.73Mbps), Alliance Broadband (2.53Mbps), Nikon (2.28Mbps), MTNL (1.99Mbps), and BSNL (1.96Mbps).
Internet speeds have been measured using inputs from fiber, DSL, cable, satellite, and Wi-Fi modes of carrier delivery. Jio GigaFiber, which is primarily based on the optical fiber network, easily thwarted its competitors. But this isn’t sudden, as the broadband carrier has shown securing the top position on Netflix ISP Speed Index, seeing that September was the remaining year.
Launched as a pilot provider in 2016, Jio GigaFiber was officially announced in the last 12 months using Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani at the employer’s forty-first AGM. The registrations kicked off in August 2018, but Jio GigaFiber is not commercially available throughout areas in India.
Those who have managed to get a Jio GigaFiber connection enjoy 100GB of free broadband for three months below the preview program. The agency noted that a protection deposit of Rs 4 500 has to be made to get the modem, but it’s refundable.
