UN Asks Venezuela President Maduro to Uphold Rule of Law

Geneva: The United Nations on Friday criticized Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro’s government for curbing the powers of the leader nation prosecutor and called on it to uphold the guidelines of regulation and freedom of assembly in Venezuela amid a clampdown on protesters.

Critics of Maduro have taken to the streets nearly every day for three months to protest in opposition to what they call the creation of a dictatorship. The protests, which have left almost 80 useless, often culminate in violent clashes with safety forces.
