Apple took the next step towards protecting Mac customers from recently disclosed security vulnerabilities that have been proven to affect many gadgets.

The pass brings Apple toward being on par with Microsoft in deploying protections for older variations of its computing device operating systems.

On Tuesday, Apple stated it had released patches to the Meltdown protection vulnerability—which influences several generations of Intel chips—for macOS Sierra and OS X El Capitan, released in 2016 and 2015, respectively. Apple patched its modern Mac running machine, macOS High Sierra, in advance in January.

The Meltdown trouble was first disclosed at the start of the month alongside Specter’s issue, which many corporations have stated is more challenging to make the most of.

When it announced the first Meltdown patch, Apple stated that it was working on mitigations against Spectre for Macs and gadgets running the iOS cell-running system.

Updating software programs to protect against the two vulnerabilities hasn’t been without incident. On Monday, Intel stated to a few people that the use of its Broadwell and Haswell chips was handling “better gadget reboots” after using updates.
